Great stuff, Brian!

FYI, there are a ton of SMNR related links here: http://del.icio.us/SHIFT.Communications.
Best regards,
    Todd

This is great stuff indeed. Means quite a lot for the world... The question is will the average non-marketing joe be the disseminator? If PR is out, who is in? And will they be functional?

I can't help but think that PR will slowly evolve, much like the telecomm companies of the 80s.

The idea of establishing practices in a SMR however is ill-fate from the start, as it assumes that an on-going method will prevail. The technology unfortunately seems to be evolving faster than the policy, and that leaves anyone trying to adhere to the rules several months behind the communication going on today.

I would love to see some of the work Chris and others have started evolve at the same speed, but the pause in action seems to create the natural delay in the effectiveness of PR.

For those of whom wish to understand the SMR world, I think it will be a matter of simply diving into the medium head first and exposing yourself to the community on the most transparent level.

This is great information, thanks! I noticed that this concept is not yet in Wikipedia and I think you're the right person to add it...

Here are two SMR I've done in the past. The first I did with Miiko's help. Disclaimer: Miiko works with Brian at Future-Works.

    Most recent: http://press.mindtouch.com/2008_05__07
And another from a past release, which I actually like a little more: http://wiki.opengarden.org/Deki_Wiki/Release/Ha... />
The second URL was my first SMR I initially put it together in July 10, 2007 based on some ideas that were being floated around the blog-o-sphere by some mentioned here and others.

Obviously I'm using MindTouch Deki Wiki to aggregate content, publish videos, slideshows, screenshots, RSS feeds etc. It makes it remarkably easy.

Clearly, these have to be coupled with a release for the wire, but in last release, first URL, we simply removed the multimedia and linked to the full SMR from the wire release.

This was very informative but it also rises a lot of questions in regard to who's accepting these SMR? meaning are publications (traditional and non) accepting SMR format over the traditional release?
